He Gives What He Promises

Thanks to those of you who checked on me after noticing the five days without a post.  We have been working a lot and we had some visitors, so it was a busy few days.  You will be hearing more about all that!  But Tom and I are hoping to get into a regular routine now, so I will be writing on my usual schedule.

To start the week off right, I want you to think about what God gives you.  I am a big “count your blessings” person, so I often think about the things he gives me.

This week I was thinking about what he promises in the Bible to give us.  I looked at Bible verses that include the phrase “He gives”.  I was overwhelmed by the rich variety of his generosity.  Instead of commenting on all of these gifts, I am listing them for your consideration.

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.  Isaiah 40:29

He gives rest to those he loves.  Psalm 127:2

He gives songs in the night.  Job 35:10

He who comes down from heaven gives life to the world.  John 6:33

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.  James 1:17

If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!  Matthew 7:11

These are a few of the verses that describe what God gives us and the mercy he shows to us.  Can you find more verses like this?

What a wonderful God we serve!  He has so richly blessed us with so many good things!  God gives us so much – what can we give him in return?

Thank you for those good God words! Marv and I were just counting our blessings Sunday after church when we were at breakfast. So many people with walkers and canes and we are so blessed with our health. God is so good and blesses us in so many ways.

There are lots of ways to get old. Glad you and Marv are enjoying relatively good health. Hope the thumb heals well.

Yes, I have missed your posts greatly, though thought you were over-working or on a big adventure. I loved your “God Gives” list…it is endless and we are so richly blessed. Kept these in my special chest where many of your other nuggets remain.

So many gifts and blessings! Here’s another, John 14:27-Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
