While Tom and I were in Cumberland we ate at the Baltimore Street Grill. We selected the Baltimore Street Grill after checking out the menus at three other restaurants along Baltimore Street. One was too fancy and expensive (they asked us if we had a reservation – for lunch!). The other two had odd mixes of food – nothing looked good to us on the menus. But the Baltimore Street Grill had a good menu and looked like a nice place to eat.
The first choice you have to make at a restaurant along Baltimore Street is eating inside or out. Most of the tables at these restaurants seem to be outside. The interior spaces are predominately bar and kitchen. It was a really pretty day, but Tom and I generally choose to be inside in the air-conditioning. We chose to eat inside at Baltimore Street Grill, even though the bar space is fully 2/3 of the room inside.
Tom ordered a cheeseburger with fries and I got a pizza. The waitress warned me it would be 20 minutes before the pizza came, but we weren’t in a hurry. We watched some extreme mountain biking on the television and talked about our visit to Cumberland while we waited.
When the food came it was hot and delicious. I usually like thick crust pizza, but this thin crust pizza was delicious. Everything was very fresh, including the homemade sauce. I ate every bit of it! Tom also liked his cheeseburger. We enjoyed lingering over our food and eavesdropping on the conversations around us. The owner of the restaurant was working the bar and it was clear she knew most of the people seated at the bar. They seemed to be regulars who dropped in for lunch during work.
We liked our lunch at Baltimore Street Grill very much and would gladly eat there again. If you are headed to Cumberland, Maryland, you might want to check this place out.
