One of the little places Tom and I have really enjoyed this summer is the Fuel Coffee Works in Farmington. This is the non-chain equivalent of a Starbucks and it is a delightful place to stop for a good cup of coffee or a sweet. Neither Tom nor I drink coffee, so I can’t really comment on the quality of the coffee. So the coffee isn’t why we go there. We visit for the sweets.
The first time we went there, I got a cinnamon roll, a berry bar, and a s’more bar. All of them were very tasty, but the cinnamon roll was the best. It was doughy with just the right mix of cinnamon, sugar, and frosting. Tom thinks it might be the best cinnamon roll ever! Very high praise from Tom. When we drop by now, I often get a different sweet but I always get a cinnamon roll.
Fuel Coffee Works is at the intersection of US 40 and 381. It has only been open a couple of years and they currently serve breakfast sandwiches but don’t serve other food. The outside looks like it might have been a gas station at one time. The inside is a fun and colorful mix that invites you to sit and stay a while. They have free WiFi, which is hard to find around here, so that is a plus.
Fuel Coffee Works is a great place to stop for a treat when you are traveling along US 40 or some great coffee to help you stay awake. Their hot chocolate is perfect as the weather cools. They also have pumpkin spice things during the fall. You never know what new treat you will find when you enter. Once you visit, you will want to go back again – just like Tom and I do!
