While we were in central Massachusetts, we stayed at the Minuteman Campground in Littleton. We stayed at the Minuteman Campground for two weeks and used it as our home base for exploring Massachusetts and for Tom going to his conference in Boston. From the Minuteman Campground it was a short drive to the commuter rail station where Tom was able to hop on the train and be at the conference center in an hour. No fuss, no bother, no traffic jams!
The Minuteman Campground used to be a KOA, but when KOA increased their prices and rules, the Minuteman decided not to be part of the franchise. This didn’t seem to be hurting their business. There were plenty of people going in and out of the Minuteman all the time and it was full both weekends we spent there. The Minuteman does not allow any seasonal campers – the longest you can stay is two weeks.
The sites at the Minuteman Campground are heavily wooded, with all the sites along the perimeter backing up into the woods. We were a little concerned about the trees with our height, but all the trees were trimmed high enough that it wasn’t a problem. We loved seeing the trees towering over our RV and being surrounded by the trees made us feel more isolated. Although the sites at the Minuteman are close together, they are facing lots of different ways and tucked into any flat place among the trees, so it doesn’t feel at all crowded.
The Minuteman Campground is immaculate, with the cleanest restrooms we have ever seen. Because our site did not have full hook-ups, we took advantage of these clean showers. But the cleanliness extended to the whole campground with any stray trash ruthlessly picked up. The laundry room and machines were cleaned daily.
There were plenty of amenities at the Minuteman Campground. There was a swimming pool, pool table, ping pong, party room, arcade games, volleyball and basketball courts, bocce ball, cornhole, and horseshoes. There was a dog park and a very nice campstore. The employees were friendly and helpful. There were no organized activities but that suited us just fine.
I was particularly impressed by the employees on the afternoon we had a tornado warning. They went to every site to make sure that everyone came into the protected shelter of the office area and they kept us updated and urged us to stay in the shelter until all danger had passed.
We loved staying at the Minuteman Campground and will definitely stay there again when we are back in Massachusetts.
