Now that you have seen the diamonds and duds, I’m sure you are eagerly waiting to hear about the little house that we are buying. The house we are buying was only the fifth house we looked at in person. However, it was about the 50th house we looked at virtually. We didn’t want to go into any houses that didn’t check most of our boxes. When we walked into the little house on Treeline Court, we knew it could be home.
The little house on Treeline Drive is a one story ranch built over a crawlspace. It was a “for sale by owner” so it didn’t show up under our realtor’s MLS listings. Tom spotted it on Zillow and we knew we wanted to see it right away. The house has three bedrooms and two baths with a big eat-in kitchen that is newly renovated. There are new floors and fresh paint through the whole house. All the walls are freshly painted with a very light gray (I thought it was cream).
The house was built in 1986 and is move-in ready, although there are plenty of things we would like to do to update it. Changing the vanities in the bathrooms is a top priority. But it was also priced right for the work that had been done and for its size and age. The house is 1,700 square feet with an oversized, attached garage. We can park the RV in the driveway and still get into the garage.
The best thing about the house is the location. It has 1.5 acres of land on a quiet street with about ten other houses on the street. But it is across the street from the Ohio to Erie bike trail and the Char-Mar Ridge Preserve. We can head south on the bike trail and ride 21 miles to my brother’s house!
We love the little house on Treeline Court and were excited when the sellers accepted our offer. Tom and I eagerly signed the contract and began dreaming about what we could do with and in the house. Our closing date is August 12 and meanwhile we have papers to gather, a mortgage to finalize, and plans to make.
