Most days, for the last 11 months, I have taken a walk on the Ohio to Erie Trail across the street from our house. I walk first thing in the morning, mostly because if I put it off, I tend to find excuses not to do it. I usually do a three-mile loop through the park and along the trail. I listen to music or podcasts, pray, and sometimes talk on the phone to friends. I love these quiet 45 minutes that start my day off right.
I loved seeing the seasons change over the last year. Yes, I had some days where I really didn’t want to go out, especially when I knew the path would be cold and the path would be icy. But, no matter what the weather, I was always glad I walked. I saw deer, chipmunks, racoons, and hundreds of birds. I rejoiced in the blooming flowers and their stunning fragrance: multi-flora rose, honeysuckle, wisteria, lilac. And I saw God’s love in his attention to detail in every season.
Every morning I walked I stopped at a particular marker and took a picture. Now I have almost a year’s worth of pictures, and I wanted to share them with you. I’m not including all of them – there are over 260! Instead, I have created a little slide show that shows all the seasons but doesn’t last too long. I timed it to go with Nicole Nordman’s song “Every Season.” You can click on the link for the song, but to keep it playing, it has to be in a separate window. Here is the link another way if you want to cut it and paste it into another window: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9DDJdgl3pE
The trail across the street has been a great blessing during every season of this pandemic year. And seeing the changing seasons reminds me of the many blessings God gives us in every season of our lives.
