Toucans Ale House: Friends and Food

Our life at St Simons was not quite as social this year as it was last year.  Mom and Dad were on the island for three weeks.  Jim and Judy Huffman stopped by again on their way to Florida.  But that was it until a couple of weeks ago when Pam and Steve Varga met us at Toucans Ale House on their way back to Ohio.

Pam and Steve are two of the Wedgewood church members who work to stay in touch with us.  They meet us whenever we are in 200 miles of each other.  We have seen them in Akron, in Mansfield and at Myrtle Beach.  So we were glad to be able to share a meal together in Georgia.

Toucans Ale House is located in Brunswick just off I-95.  Last year we would have met Steve and Pam at the Copper Pig but it closed!   Toucans Ale House got good reviews and is not a chain, so we thought it sounded worth a try.

I don’t know if it was the company or we were just really hungry, but the food was great.  I had a wonderful salad with delicious pretzel bites.  Tom had pulled pork and Steve had a bacon burger.  Pam ordered a steak with potato and beans.  We all agreed that the food was very good.  It was fresh and served at the proper temperature.  The service was good enough with our order taken quickly.  The restaurant was busy but not packed.

Toucans Ale House is a casual local restaurant and bar where you can kick back without breaking the bank. They are known for a wide variety of freshly prepared dishes.  Toucans offers over 75 brews, including local favorites, fresh shrimp, and the best chicken wings you will find locally.  Their motto is “The Fun Starts Here!”

We certainly enjoyed our good meal at Toucans Ale House.  When the bill came, we were even more pleased at the price.  The meal was much less than we would pay at any restaurant on St Simons Island.  Of course, the best thing about the meal was being with our friends.  Thanks, Pam and Steve, for taking the time to stop by.
