Cap City Fine Diner in Dublin, Ohio

As I mentioned yesterday, Tom and I met our friends Pete and Cathy at Cap City Fine Diner in Dublin, Ohio.  We saw this restaurant across the street when we went to the Ram Restaurant and Brewery.  Kris, a frequent commenter on the blog, also recommended it as a good place to eat.  Consequently, we were pleased when Pete and Cathy suggested it and glad to meet them there.

When we arrived at Cap City Fine Diner on a Tuesday evening, it was packed.  Fortunately Pete had the foresight to call ahead for a reservation, so we were seated right away even though we were early.  Tom and I never think about reservations because Akron doesn’t have many restaurants that accept reservations.  But we were glad not to wait in line.

We studied the menu for a while before setting them down to wait for Pete and Cathy.  Cap City Fine Diner is a very fancy looking restaurant – not my idea of a diner at all.  The food is also a cut above diner food.  Cap City has this line on their menu, “Classic comfort food made modern.”  About the only thing on the menu that looked like diner food was the “blue plate special.”

Once Pete and Cathy arrived, we ordered our food and caught up on what has happened in the year since we saw them.  Both of them ordered the Chicken Pot Pie Blue Plate Special.  Tom ordered the Ponzu Glazed Salmon.  I had a cup of soup and side salad because I looked at the dessert menu before ordering my supper.  We all thought our food was excellent.  In fact, Tom said the salmon was the best he has ever had.

But on to that dessert menu.  Everything on it looked delicious.  I asked the waiter what was best and he said his favorite was the deep dish apple pie.  Of course, that is what I ordered with ice cream.  Pete and Cathy ordered a deep dish apple pie to share and I shared mine with Tom.  So good.  I didn’t take a picture of the main dishes, but I did of the dessert.  Priorities!

We enjoyed our time with Pete and Cathy very much and look forward to eating at Cap City Fine Diner again.  Although the food was a little pricey, it was delicious and worth the money.  Cap City Fine Diner also has locations in Grandview and Gahanna, but everyone says the one in Dublin is the nicest.
