When Tom and I were home in August, we met John and Jackie at Rude Dog Bar and Grill at Polaris for supper.  I had suggested a couple of places we would like to try and this was the one we settled on.  The menu looked interesting, especially the Rude Cookie.

Rude Dog Bar and Grill is a sports bar on Sancus Avenue.  It opened in 2005 and maintains its popularity with something special every night of the week.  Sundays are “Service Industry Nights.”  Mondays, the night we went, are pool nights.  Wednesdays have karaoke.  There is live music on Friday and Saturday nights.  The place is open from 11 a.m. until 2:30 a.m. every night and seems to get busier as the evening goes on.

We arrived at Rude Dog at 6:15 and it was very quiet.  Pool night didn’t start until 8 p.m., so the waitress said it would be busier then.  There was plenty of room inside but we opted to sit on the patio and enjoy the beautiful evening.  Choosing what to order was difficult – lots of stuff sounded delicious.  I didn’t want to get too much because I wanted to try a Rude Cookie.  I ordered pork sliders.  Tom ordered the grilled cheese, cheese, cheese with bacon.  Jackie ordered the meatloaf sandwich with crack tots.  John got a black and bleu burger with regular tots.

All the food was very good and the portions weren’t too large.  We all polished off most of the food on our plates.  My sliders were especially good and the little buns were soft with just a hint of sweet.

When we all finished, I ordered a Rude Cookie.  The description says the cookie is a “huge, fresh homemade chocolate chip cookie with two scoops of premium vanilla ice cream drizzled with chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and topped with sprinkles.  Served fresh out of the oven.”  When the cookie came, it did not disappoint.  It was huge and hot.  Plenty for the four of us to share.  It was a little thinner than I was expecting, but I think that helped them bake it faster.  Delicious!

We enjoyed our supper at Rude Dog.  I would certainly eat there again, especially to get another Rude Cookie.  I would also stick to the late afternoon time frame because I don’t like places that are noisy.  It seems like it would be a fun place to go watch a football game or to participate in karaoke.  Something going on every night keeps it fresh.
